Getting Started
What is this site and who is it for?
This is a free community site for diecast collectors and hunters. Whether you’re looking for a specific model, want to share a great deal or just want to connect with fellow collectors around the world, this is your spot. No ads, no paywalls, just hunters helping hunters.
Do I need an account to browse hunts and deals?
No, browsing is open to everyone. However you do need an account to submit hunts, post deals, leave comments, and interact with the community.
How do I register?
Registration is done through your Reddit account. Click the login/join button and sign in with Reddit (the icon). It’s quick and this means you don’t need to create yet another username and password.
Why do I need a Reddit account to sign up?
Reddit is where most of the diecast community already lives. Using Reddit login keeps things simple and also helps us maintain a trustworthy community. To keep spam and fake accounts out, your Reddit account needs to be at least a certain age. We don’t publish the exact threshold.
My Reddit account is too new!
If you created a Reddit account specifically to join our community, don’t worry! You can write to us at garage@diecastcollectors.club. Let us know a bit about your collection or hobby background and we can manually review your account to grant you access.
What should I do after I register?
Head to the Hunting page (Current Hunts) and submit your first hunt or see what others are hunting. You can also browse the Deals page to see what others have spotted or add your own!
Hunting
How do I submit a hunt request?
Once logged in, go to the Hunting page (Current Hunts) and click the button “Submit a Hunt”. Fill in the required data (brand, model, location, picture and any details that help others identify it). The more specific you are, the easier it is for fellow hunters to help you.
How do I mark a hunt as found?
On your hunt, you’ll see a “Mark as Found” button. Once clicked, your hunt is marked as found. So others know it’s been resolved and can celebrate with you!
What happens to found hunts, do they disappear?
They don’t disappear, they move to the Hunt Archive (Hall of Found Treasures) automatically 14 days after being marked as found. They stay there as a record of successful hunts.
Can I help someone find their hunt?
Absolutely, that’s the whole point! On any active hunt you can leave a comment or offer help to let them know where you spotted the model. The community thrives on this kind of collaboration.
Can I comment on a hunt?
Yes, logged-in members can comment on hunts, reply to comments, and even edit or delete their own comments. Please keep it helpful and on-topic.
Deals
What counts as a deal?
Any promotion you spotted that’s worth sharing: percentage discounts, buy X get Y offers, clearance events or anything else that saves a fellow collector money. If you saw it in a store and thought “Oh, that’s a good one”, share it!
How do I submit a deal?
Go to the Deals page and click the button “Share a Deal”. Fill in the required data (shop, location, deal type, a picture and more). Deals are visible to the whole community so the more detail the better.
How do I mark a deal as ended?
Filling in an end date is mandatory. In case the deal ended before that, then on your deal post you’ll find a “Mark as Ended” button. Use this when the deal is no longer available so others don’t make a wasted trip.
How long do deals stay active?
Deals are automatically removed 3 days after their end date. If a deal has an incorrect future end date and you know it has already ended, please mark it as Ended manually.
Can I report a deal that’s wrong or expired?
Yes, every deal has a report button. Use it if the deal is incorrect, misleading or already gone. Reports are reviewed and help keep the listings accurate.
Collector’s Lounge
What is the Collector’s Lounge?
The Collector’s Lounge is the social hub of the site. You can browse collector profiles, see who’s most active, check the leaderboard and find fellow hunters near you or around the world.
How do I find collectors near me?
Use the search on the Collector’s Lounge page and filter by your city or country. You can also browse hunts and deals, they are all location tagged.
How do ratings work?
After interacting with another collector (they helped with a hunt, shared a deal, etc.), you can leave a positive or negative rating with a short reason. The Collector’s Choice score on a profile shows the percentage of positive ratings that collector has received. It stays at 0% until positives equal or outnumber negatives. Ratings build your community reputation over time.
How do I earn badges?
You start with a New Member badge for your first 30 days. From there, badges like Diecast Ambassador, Diecast Patron, Diecast Historian and Diecast Verified are awarded by the admin for notable contributions to the community. The Early Adopter badge is for the people who helped testing the website. There are also achievement badges for being a Diecast Hero, Hunt Master, Deal Spotter and Rookie of the Month!
What are the monthly achievements?
Each month the community recognises standout collectors: Diecast Hero (most helpful on hunts), Hunt Master (most hunts found), Deal Spotter (most deals shared) and Rookie of the Month (newest active member making an impact). Check the Leaderboard tab to see the current leaders!
General
Is this site free?
Yes, completely free. No ads, no paywalls, ever. If the site has helped you in any way or you just want to keep it running by throwing the engine a little fuel, email garage@diecastcollectors.club and we’ll figure something out.
How do I report inappropriate content?
Every hunt, deal, comment and profile has a report button. Use it if you spot something that doesn’t belong. Reports go directly to the admin for review.
What happens if someone breaks the rules?
Reports are viewed by the admin. Depending on the severity, the content may be removed, the account may be warned or suspended. We’d rather sort things out amongst each other first, but we will act on repeated or serious issues.
Who runs this site?
This site is run by one person, a fellow diecast collector who got tired of seeing hunters miss each other on Reddit. It’s a hobby project.
Can I contact you?
Yes, always happy to read your emails at garage@diecastcollectors.club and it doesn’t matter if it’s a question, a bug report or you just want to say hi. Everything is being read.
